In this camp, artists will explore the world of surrealism and learn about surrealist artists. During the first two days, they will focus on realism, building a strong foundation in light, shading, perspective, scale, and composition. For the rest of the camp, they will dive into surrealism, using their creativity to transform the ordinary into the unexpected—just as surrealist artists have turned clocks into melting forms or replaced heads with floating fruit. Students will be encouraged to develop their own dreamlike concepts or study master artists for inspiration. Materials will include colored pencils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, and pen and ink.
